Butterfly Beauty Dies and Forever Greenery DSP

Welcome and thank you so much for your visit.  Take time to look around and see if any of my projects inspire you!

If you wish to purchase any of the products I have used, I am an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in the UK, so if you live in Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands or United Kingdom, you are eligible to purchase from me, but regardless of where you are from, I do appreciate your visit to my blog.

It’s nearly a week since I last produced a Stampin’ Up! project and I will admit that during that time I did use some non SU products to make some Father’s Day cards as sometimes, this just cannot be avoided.  So on with today’s project.

To begin, I created an inky background using Rococo Rose, Balmy Blue and Highland Heather ink, which was applied to Whisper White cardstock using a brayer.

After this, I spritzed a little water over the top and left it to dry.  Using the Butterfly Beauty Dies, I cut both large images from Whisper White cardstock and layered them on top of each other.  Using a piece of Forever Greenery designer series paper, I die cut the butterfly image, discarding all the left over small pieces, as I needed the large negative space.  Using the inky background, I attached the Forever Greenery DSP onto it, then adhered the large die cut butterfly image into the negative space.  On a scrap of Basic Black cardstock, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in white embossing powder before using the smallest circle from the Stitched Shape Dies.  To finish, all the elements were adhered onto a card base made from Whisper White Thick cardstock.

Score Lines and Flowers for Every Occasion DSP

Welcome and thank you so much for your visit.  Take time to look around and see if any of my projects inspire you!

Demonstrator based in the UK, so if you live in Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands or United Kingdom, you are eligible to purchase from me, but regardless of where you are from, I do appreciate your visit to my blog.

I really like the Flowers for Every Occasion designer series paper.  Such a shame I omitted to order the new In-Colour cardstock which would have co-ordinated perfectly with it though!  Not a massive issue, I did find a way around this by doing some scoring for the bottom half of the card on Whisper White cardstock.  I won’t bore you with all the card measurements, as I do this all too often, but I will explain the scoring.  First I decided upon the size of the card and then cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to the appropriate size, on which to do the scoring.  I scored three lines together, then left the next two measurements unscored, repeating the scoring on the next three measurements, so I scored at 1/8”, ¼”, 3/8”, (½” and 5/8” left unscored) scoring at ¾”, 7/8”, 1”, (11/8” and 1¼” left unscored) scoring again at 13/8” and so on.  I hope that makes sense.

Ornate Borders Dies with Flowers for Every Season DSP

Welcome and thank you so much for your visit.  Take time to look around and see if any of my projects inspire you!

If you wish to purchase any of the products I have used, I am an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in the UK, so if you live in Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands or United Kingdom, you are eligible to purchase from me, but regardless of where you are from, I do appreciate your visit to my blog.

I’ve had the Ornate Borders Dies for a while now and this is the first time I have used them in a project (hanging my head in shame, especially as they are so nice!)  I do intend to make amends by using them more in the coming weeks though.  I made the card base first, using an A4 piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock, trimming it in half, then scoring one of the pieces in half.  The DSP used is from one sheet, the patterns being back-to-back, so making sure the flowers were the correct way up on the wrong side, I cut the green background to 3¾” x 5½”, leaving the remaining 2¼” for the centre section on the flip side.  Using that left over 2¼” piece, the border die I chose was run through the big shot on each long side before being attached to the green background and then onto the card base.  The sentiment, from Itty Bitty Greetings, was stamped in Versamark onto Whisper White cardstock, then heat set after using gold embossing powder over it.  This was cut out using the smallest oval in the Stitched Shape Dies.  The green DSP backing for the sentiment was left over and cut down to 3½” x 1” and punched at both ends in the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. To break up the green, I added another strip measuring 37/8” x 1” in Whisper White cardstock, again punching the ends in the same punch.  The sentiment strip was adhered together before adding dimensionals to the rear and attaching centrally to the card.  To finish, I added two medium sized Pearl Basic Jewels to the sentiment strip.

Happy Birthday using Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper

Well, it’s the end of the week – so much to do but so little time!  I have used the Flowers for Every Season designer series paper today using blue tones and a doily which I heat embossed in silver embossing powder.  I think these doilies take on a whole new dimension when they are heat embossed.  I made a card base by cutting a piece of A4 Thick Whisper White in half, then scored one of the pieces in half.  I then added the background DSP measuring 3¾” x 5½”.  The floral DSP was cut out twice using the largest square in the Stitched Shape Dies then attached together to become a rectangle.  After adding the doily, I used the smallest circle to cut out the silver heat embossed sentiment and using the next sized circle up, cut a backing from the same paper as the background.

Field of Flowers Stamp Set, a Brayer and a Punch

Welcome and thank you so much for your visit.  Take time to look around and see if any of my projects inspire you!

If you wish to purchase any of the products I have used, I am an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in the UK, so if you live in Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands or United Kingdom, you are eligible to purchase from me, but regardless of where you are from, I do appreciate your visit to my blog.

I’m so pleased with how this card turned out and I think the colours go so well together.  All of the stamping was done using the Field of Flowers stamp set.  To begin with, I made the background on which the flower is stamped.  On Whisper White cardstock, I used a brayer with Rococo Rose and Highland Heather ink. I then gave the cardstock a light spritz of water and left it to dry.  After this, I stamped the flower in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and cut the piece down to 2” x 3½”.  I saved an offcut from the background to back the sentiment and cut it down to 3¾” x 1” and punched both ends in the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.  Next I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut it down to 31/8” x ¾” and again, punched the ends using the same punch.  I glued the two pieces together and set it aside.  The larger background was stamped randomly using Rococo Rose, Highland Heather and Real Red ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  This was cut down to measure 3¼” x 4¾” and adhered to a notecard base.  The flower silhouette was then attached, leaving the sentiment and backing, to which I attached dimensionals to the rear before attaching to the card.

Demonstrator based in the UK, so if you live in Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands or United Kingdom, you are eligible to purchase from me, but regardless of where you are from, I do appreciate your visit to my blog.

Stitched squares are so nice and even more so when coupled with the Flowers for Every Season designer series paper.  Using the second to largest sized square from the Stitched Shape Dies, I cut four different patterns and attached them together at the back with a little tape.  I then made a card base using Thick Whisper White cardstock, measuring 4½” x 9” and scored the long side in half, before attaching the stitched squares. I then cut the largest stitched square in Daffodil Delight cardstock, followed by the next size down cut in Garden Green cardstock and glued these together before attaching them in a diamond orientation.  The ‘thanks’ sentiment, from the Well Written Dies, was cut in Daffodil Delight and adhered to the diamond.  Using the same Well Written Dies, I cut out the three small flowers and the butterfly using Crushed Curry cardstock and attached these around the sentiment.

Mini Coloured Doilies

These doilies didn’t retire!  So many possibilities – stick, snip, chop, colour, heat emboss! Still on Clearance at £1.70 for a pack of 24, wow what a bargain!

The card I made today is on a notecard base, topped with Basic Black cardstock.  I adhered the doilies to the black cardstock then trimmed it down to measure 3 3/8” x 4 7/8”.  The sentiment, from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set, was stamped in Versamark onto Basic Black cardstock and covered with white embossing powder, then heat set.  I wanted to use the new Lovely Labels Pick a Punch for the sentiment, so I cut it down to ¾” wide before punching the edges, then backed it with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 1” wide and again punched the edges.  A glued them together before attaching to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Confetti Flowers Border Punch Hooray Card

Welcome and thank you so much for your visit.  Take time to look around and see if any of my projects inspire you!

I am an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in the UK, so if you live in Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands or United Kingdom, you are eligible to purchase from me, but regardless of where you are from, I do appreciate your visit to my blog.

Yay new products!  The Confetti Flowers Border Punch is just that, a totally brand new item. I like it a lot!  To begin I made a card base from a sheet of Thick Whisper White A4 cardstock, cut to measure 4¼” x 8½”, then scored it in half on the long side.  Inky stuff next – I used a piece of Whisper White cardstock (larger than I needed to cut down later) and blended Daffodil Delight, Rococo Rose, Real Red, Balmy Blue and Highland Heather ink.  I then tried something I haven’t done before – a verylight water spritz.  This gave a wonderful effect, which I will be doing more of at a later date, and it didn’t buckle the cardstock.  I then cut a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock to 4” x 4”.  I used the Confetti Flowers Border Punch in a random-ish fashion, by this I mean that I did a full punch on each side but then turned the punch upside down so I could see where the next punched images were going to land on the cardstock.  I did more punching in this manner, taking care not to overlap any areas, and not necessarily having the cardstock inside the punch straight either!  This meant that I could achieve a non-symmetrical look.  I then cut down the inky background to a very tiny fraction under 4” x 4” and adhered it to the back of the green punched cardstock.  I chose the hooray sentiment from the Well Written Dies, which was cut in Whisper White cardstock, then covered in Versamark and heat embossed using gold embossing powder.  I then punched more flowers using scraps of Daffodil Delight, Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, Seaside Spray and Purple Posy cardstock.  I attached the sentiment to the card and arranged the punched flowers around it.  When I was happy with the look, I attached slivers of Stampin’ Dimensionals to the rear of them and adhered them to the card.  I put Pearl Jewels in the centre of each of the largest flowers.  A nice, easy, colourful project to start with for a new item!

Mini Album using Jubilee Beauty Dies

Welcome to my blog and thank you so much for your visit.

Some of the products I have used are available as Last Chance Products – While Supplies last or until 2ndJune 2020.  See below for the specific products included.

When I ordered my starter kit back in February, I chose the Jubilee Beauty Dies for one specific purpose – to make a mini album. Whilst I did make a prototype shortly after receiving my goodies, I didn’t get around to making one for the blog. So I started making this one over the weekend but in typical fashion, I notice today that the Parisian Blossoms designer series paper has now sold out!  Nevermind – It will look good using any DSP, it is the dies that are the important part.

Instructions – you will need two 12 x 12 pieces of identical designer series paper.  (For ease, I used a trimmer and scorer 2-in-1, but this is not essential).  On the first piece, with the right side facing you, and the directional pattern the correct way up, score at 4” and 8”. Turn the DSP 90oclockwise so that the scorelines are vertical and trim two pieces measuring 5½” wide.  The second piece of DSP needs to be trimmed at 9” with the directional pattern facing you, turn 90oclockwise and trim at 5½”.  On the long side, score at ½”, 4½” and 8½”.  You will now have three pieces of scored DSP.  The shorter piece with the ½” tabs will be the centre section which needs to be glued in place to form one long piece.  With the smaller piece facing you, place the glue onto one of the tabs, then secure the tab to the rear of the one of the longer pieces of DSP.  Repeat on the other tab to adhere the remaining piece of DSP.  You should now have one long piece of DSP.  On the centre scoreline, make a mountain fold and concertina the remaining DSP, alternating mountain and valley folds.  You will now have 8 connected panels, each measuring 5½” x 4”.

To retain some structure and to add three pockets, I added glue to the three central back-to-back pages, placing it on the sides and rear.  I then punched a semi-circle at the top of each.

From the Jubilee Beauty Dies, choose which rectangular die you would like to use and cut out 9 on a co-ordinating piece of cardstock (I used Cherry Cobbler to go with Parisian Blossoms).  I find that these large intricate dies cut better with two passes through my Big Shot.  I added a fine line of glue to the sides and bottom of my die cuts on the rear and adhered one to each panel.  I kept the remaining die cut aside, which I used later on.

For the cover I used a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock. I cut this to measure 11½” x 6” then on the long side, scored it at 4”, 4¼”, 83/8” and 85/8”.   As the interior of the album will need to move when being opened, closed and when turning the pages, I only adhered the first page to the cover.  I made sure the first page went right up to the edge of the cover, before adding a generous amount of glue to ensure a strong, firm fix. On the last page of the album (which shows the rear DSP image, I adhered a piece of Whisper White cardstock, so I could add any notes about the subject of the album.  The remaining die cut was adhered to the inside of the cover, adjacent to the Whisper White cardstock.  This could hold any souvenirs such as receipts or tickets.

The mats for the die cuts were cut to 31/8” x 4½”, and the three tags on the inside of the pockets were cut using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  I cut these using Whisper White Thick cardstock, mainly to ‘bulk out’ the album for illustration purposes, as if photo’s were already on the mats.  When I do place photographs into this album, I will change the mats to the normal Whisper White thickness before adding my pictures to them.

To finish, I rounded the corners on the  front outer flap before adding a Velcro closure.  The decoration on the front is from the Butterfly Beauty Dies, cut in Very Vanilla Thick cardstock and 2019-21 In Colour DSP in Rococo Rose.
