Small Circular Easel Cards

Welcome to my blog and thank you so much for your visit. Take time to look around and see if any of my projects inspire you!

I am an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in the UK, so if you live in Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands or United Kingdom, you are eligible to purchase from me, but regardless of where you are from, I do appreciate your visit to my blog.

Some of the products I have used are available as Last Chance Products – While Supplies last or until 2ndJune 2020.  See below for the specific products included.

Following on from yesterday, I made three mini circular easel cards to attach the outer edge of the gold heat embossed doilies to. These have been around for a long time and prior to joining Stampin’ Up! I made some shaped ones a few Christmases ago, but I have not made a circular one before.  Obviously, you could use any die you wanted, but the measurements I have given will only be applicable to the largest circle die in the Stitched Shape Dies.  First I decided on which designer series paper to use, then chose a complimentary colour for the cardstock – for the photographic example, my choices were 2019-21 In Colour DSP in Rococo Rose with matching Rococo Rose cardstock (the other two examples in the photograph were Tropical Oasis DSP with Real Red cardstock and Best Dressed DSP with Old Olive cardstock).  The largest circle die in the Stitched Shape Dies I used measures a tad under 3” in diameter so I cut the cardstock to 3¼” x 6”, scored in half on the long side at 3”, then folded and burnished the scoreline.  Next, I placed the circular die falling a little off the edge of the cardstock over the fold.  You need it to be off the edge so the circles are joined together.

Place the die hanging off the edge, over the fold.

I ran it through my Big Shot.

On the front circle only (see the stitching to ascertain the correct ‘front’), score it in half (I put the connected circles flat onto my Simply Scored and scored at 13/8”), then with the scoreline facing me, I made a mountain fold, then burnished the scoreline.

Using the largest stitched circle again, die cut your chosen DSP and adhere the outer section of the doily onto it.  Attach this to the lower part of the scored and folded circle (below the mountain fold) on your cardstock.  As the DSP is of a good quality thickness, I decided that it needed no rear reinforcement and maybe it was helped by the doily being added.

Next, decide on a ‘stopper’ for the base circle – this will need to hold up the front of your card.  I chose the smallest Stitched Shape Circle Die and cut it using matching DSP. I did reinforce this by adding an identical sized circle on the rear.  The reason I reinforced this piece was because I wanted it to sit firm and straight as it would be raised up because dimensionals needed to be added to the rear. After adding the dimensionals I placed the stopper on the base circle at the front in the centre.

At this point I added a butterfly from the Butterfly Beauty Dies to the front, cut from Gorgeous Grape and Purple Posy cardstock. I chose not to add a sentiment to this card, but the other examples do have them and I found that the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set is perfect for this as the sentiments are all quite small. My choice for the front of the other examples were fussy cut images from the same DSP as their backgrounds.

Gold leafy borders with doily flowers

Ok, it’s time to admit that I really like shiny things on black backgrounds!  (I’m sure that I am not alone on this).  I started with a piece of Basic Black cardstock measuring 47/8” x 33/8”.  The leafy border is from the Budding Borders stamp set and the sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.  I stamped these in Versamark and added a covering of gold embossing powder to them, the excess was shaken off and heat set.  The doilies were originally the Grapefruit Grove colour, I used the Versamark ink pad directly onto them before covering in gold embossing powder and heat setting them. I repeated this process for the doilies to achieve a nice slick and even coverage.  The outer section of the doilies were then snipped off leaving the flowery centres, which I adhered to the cardstock, before attaching the panel to a 3½” x 5” Whisper White notecard.  In tomorrow’s project, I will show you what I did with the outer section of the doilies.

Hope You’re Feeling Better card using 2019-21 In Colours

Welcome to my blog and thank you so much for your visit. Take time to look around and see if any of my projects inspire you!

The card today is made mostly from 2019-21 In Colours, in particular one of my favourite colours, Pretty Peacock and all the designer series paper used is from the same pack.  To begin with, I cut the Pretty Peacock designer series paper which measures 47/8” x 33/8” to fit on a 3½” x 5” Whisper White notecard. The coloured strips were cut to measure ½” wide x 21/8” and were attached together with tape at the back.  The background and coloured strips were both adhered to the card at this point.  Next, a piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped using the leafy border from the Budding Borders stamp set in Pretty Peacock ink and as I wanted two rows, I left a gap of ¾” then stamped a second row. The cardstock was then cut to measure 15/8” x 3¼” and attached to the card over the coloured strips. The two roses in opposing corners are from the same stamp set, which were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, then coloured in using my Stampin’ Write markers.  I then fussy cut these and adhered them to the card.  The sentiment, from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set, was stamped in Pretty Peacock ink then cut out using the smallest oval in the Stitched Shape Dies, before being attached to the centre of the card.

Coloured Butterflies on Basic Black with a Shimmer Background

Welcome to my blog and thank you so much for your visit. Take time to look around and see if any of my projects inspire you!

I love this simplicity of this one!  The idea for this came about from when I was die cutting the small butterflies for the Butterflies and Silver Heat Embossing card last week.  After cutting the first butterfly out on a different piece of cardstock, which had other various die cut images previously cut out, I refrained from cutting the remainder after a fleeting thought.  I grabbed a Basic Black left over strip of cardstock which measured 1¾” wide, and cut out the four remaining butterflies I needed, but placed them a little more strategically, in this case, the correct way up and in a general more orderly fashion! At this point, I put the butterflies strip away and carried on with the original project at hand.  Over the weekend I added scrap pieces of retiring In-Colour designer series paper to the back of the strip for the coloured butterflies and found in my stash a stray unused shimmer paper background which I adhered to a Basic Black notecard sized cardbase.  I attached the butterflies strip over the background, leaving space for the sentiment towards the bottom of the card.  This was from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set, stamped in Versamark, covered in white embossing powder and heat set, before being cut into an oval using the Stitched Shape Dies.  To finish, I placed dimensionals on the back of the sentiment before attaching it to the card.

Thank you for viewing my project today.  If you make a purchase with me this month for £30 or more (excluding postage) in addition to a thank you card and gift, you will also receive a card kit, which will comprise of three cards to assemble yourself, all papers will be pre-cut for you with the card base, envelopes and any die cuts provided, the only item not provided will be adhesive, as I find the preference of this differs greatly between crafters.

Two Colour White and Silver Abstract Card

Two Colour White and Silver Abstract Card

Welcome to my blog and thank you so much for your visit. Take time to look around and see if any of my projects inspire you!

A slightly abstract card today with lots of silver heat embossing.  I started with the background by using the Swirls and Curls embossing folder, inked the inside with Versamark and placed a piece of Whisper White cardstock inside, then ran it through my Big Shot.  I then sprinkled the cardstock with silver embossing powder.  A tip I learned from my previous attempt at this, eliminating the need for removing excess powder is to use a set amount of powder and move it around on the cardstock, as opposed to covering the whole of the cardstock in powder and ending up with way to excess coverage.  With the required result, I heat set the powder with a heat gun. I cut the cardstock to 33/8” x 47/8”, then cut the piece diagonally to fit my notecard base.  The border was next, using the Budding Borders stamp set, stamped in Versamark onto Whisper White cardstock, followed by a covering of silver embossing powder, then heat set.  The stamped border was then trimmed to fit and attached to the rear of the diagonal cut piece and adhered to the card base.  The sentiment, from the Vibrant Vases stamp set, was stamped directly onto the card base using the same Versamark – embossing powder – heat setting method.

I only recently ordered the Butterfly Beauty dies and what a wonderful set it is!  I will be using this quite often from now on.  The card is a Whisper White Notecard measuring 5” x 3½”, onto this I attached a background in Balmy Blue cardstock cut to 47/8” x 33/8”.  Next, some silver heat embossing.  These sections include an outer square surround from the Shimmer Detailed Laser Cut Specialty Paper and the interior section cut from a Mini Coloured Doily.  Both were cut as required, stamped with Versamark then covered with silver embossing powder before the excess was gently shaken off and heat set. A second stamping of Versamark, powder and heat setting was undertaken to ensure full coverage and a nice slick look. Both items were adhered to the card at this point.  The Terracotta Tile flower in the centre was then cut from another doily and attached using Stampin’ Dimensionals which were cut into small slivers.  The butterflies were then cut from the Butterfly Beauty Dies, five were cut using Basic Black cardstock and the background/outer sections were cut using some left over Best Dressed designer series paper and adhered to the back of each.  Three of them had Stampin’ Dimensionals attached to the rear before being adhered to the silver embossed surround.  The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set and was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock in Versamark, covered in silver embossing powder then heat set.  This was cut out using the second to smallest oval in the Stitched Shape Dies.  The two remaining butterflies were attached to the side of this before being adhered to the card.

Gold on Black Dandelion Clock

Welcome to my blog and thank you so much for your visit. Take time to look around and see if any of my projects inspire you!

I know I did a black background card yesterday too, but I had an idea and just had to try it for today!  I really love this card, I think it looks so opulent and striking.  I did a similar card with an ink blended background around a month ago, with the dandelion clock in black, which WAS my favourite, but I like this one better!

So I started with the background by using the Swirls and Curls embossing folder, inked the inside with Versamark and placed a piece of Basic Black cardstock inside, then ran it through my Big Shot.  I then sprinkled the cardstock with gold embossing powder.  This was a bit of trial and error as I haven’t tried this technique before.  Too much powder totally covered the embossing effect and I didn’t want a full gold look to the background, so I ‘strategically’ gently brushed some off using a small make-up brush, wanting to achieve an effect where there was more gold at the top gradually reducing to less towards the bottom of the cardstock.  With the required result, I heat set the powder with a heat gun.  Next was the dandelion clocks themselves.  These are from the Specialty Shimmer paper, so all I did was cut the section I wanted with a little extra, in this case the frame around it to make it easier to handle with the heating process, sponge directly over the image with the Versamark ink pad and cover with gold embossing powder.  This was then heat set, then the process was repeated to achieve a nice slick image. The sentiment is from the Birthday Jubilee Stamp set and was treated in the same way with Versamark and gold embossing powder onto Basic Black cardstock.  The card base was made to a notecard size (5” x 3½”) also in Basic Black cardstock and the embossed gold background was trimmed to measure 1/8” less on each side before being attached to the card base.  The dandelions were then carefully adhered before adding the sentiment, which was cut to 3½” x 7/8”.

An Almost Monochrome Thank you

Welcome to my blog and thank you so much for your visit. Take time to look around and see if any of my projects inspire you!

I am an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in the UK, so if you live in Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands or United Kingdom, you are eligible to purchase from me, but regardless of where you are from, I do appreciate your visit to my blog.

My project today was made using the Butterfly Beauty Dies. Using Whisper White cardstock, I die cut the two largest dies and stacked them together before snipping them out individually.  The card base I used is a notecard in Whisper White and the Basic Black cardstock was originally cut to the same size.  After attaching the butterflies in a random manner, I cut the black cardstock down to 4¾” x 3¼” and adhered the panel to the notecard.  The sentiment is from the Well Written Dies, as is the small heart, which was cut from Real Red cardstock.  I am really looking forward to creating more projects with this set using different colours.

Looking through my unused designer series paper, I came across the bags and shoes papers from Best Dressed and knew I had to use them.  After the lockdown has ended, I will probably indulge myself with somea lot of retail therapy, with handbags and shoes being on the list!  I can already envisage myself ‘ooing’ and ‘aahing’ at the range of exquisite luxury goods on display in the stores!

I started by fussy cutting the handbags from the Best Dressed DSP. When I had enough bags, I trimmed a sheet of A4 Whisper White cardstock in half on the long side, then glued on a 6×6 sheet of Best Dressed DSP with the shoes design.  When the glue had dried, I cut three pieces from this measuring 2” x 5¾”.   The top of each one was punched using the Tag Topper Punch before being adorned with the fussy cut handbags, which were adhered with glue for the bookmarks.  For use as tags, I attached the handbags using Stampin’ Dimensionals and added ribbon to the top.  These would also be great to use on the front of a card.

Today I have made a tall card – it measures 4” x 8¼” and will fit into a DL sized envelope.  I have wanted to do this design for a while and this sized card is perfect for it.  The background designer series paper is Woven Threads, coupled with Seaside Spray and Whisper White cardstock.  I used the Braided Border Punch to create two separate strips measuring 8½” long to fit the card and staggered them side by side before adding a ½” wide strip of Seaside Spray over the top.  I adhered this to the DSP off-centre, at ½” inwards from the right hand side.  I cut off the excess overhanging border punch, then attached the panel to the card base, which was made from Thick Whisper White Cardstock, measuring 8” x 8¼” and scored in half on the 8” side.  The sentiment is from the Vibrant Vases stamp set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  I cut this out with my Big Shot using the second-to-smallest circle from the Stitched Shape Dies, then cut the backing from Seaside Spray cardstock, using the next sized up circle from the same set.  I adhered the two circles together then attached them over the braided border and added three Flower Faceted Gems in Mint Macaron.
